Here are a few key things to remember as a foot passenger travelling with P&O Ferries:


  • Check-in closes 90 mins before departure.

  • All luggage must be carried onboard.

  • Pets are not permitted to travel with foot passengers.

  • EES travel checks will take place in Dover before departure.

  • You must carry a valid passport when travelling to the EU.

Travelling With Car/Motorbike

Passengers travelling with a vehicle will need to:


  • Ensure the size of their vehicle was declared accurately at the time of booking. 

  • Check-in for the Dover to Calais route closes 90 minutes before departure.

  • After check-in, our team will take you to the vehicle deck to park safely. Once parked, you will be directed to the passenger deck.

  • Please ensure to take all your valuables with you when moving from the vehicle deck to the passenger deck.

  • If you are travelling in a motorhome or caravan, please ensure that all gas bottles are declared, isolated and secured with a maximum of 47g allowed with you.

Passengers travelling with bicycles will need to take note of a few things before boarding the ship:


  • Entry & exit for cyclists are on the cliff side of the port. Please follow the thick red line on the pathway and road.

  • You will first need to travel to the French Border Controls, where your travel documents will be checked.

  • Check-in for passengers travelling with bicycles & a vehicle closes 60 minutes before departure.

  • Check-in passengers travelling with only a bicycle should arrive close to 90 minutes before departure.

  • Cyclists need to dismount and walk their bikes across the bridge to the ferry, as the bridge may move.

  • Please ensure you carry reflective clothing, a puncture repair kit, and a portable phone charger, and read the European cycling laws.
