Peak District in England

About the city

Bakewell and Buxton Bakewell is the biggest town in the Peak District, famous for its unique and delicious pudding, the famous Bakewell Tart. This tranquil town is nestled within the hills and valleys of the National Park itself and is popular amongst painters, photographers, and sightseers thanks to its medieval stone buildings and quaint courtyards. We highly recommend visiting the Old House Museum, one of the oldest buildings in Bakewell, to gain some insight into the town’s fascinating past. It’s also the perfect spot for a riverside walk along the Wye – and why not take a picnic and feed the ducks while you’re at it?

The historic spa town of Buxton, Derbyshire, is another great spot for a bit of rest and relaxation. Buxton has been welcoming visitors since Roman times to enjoy its natural thermal springs, where you can also enjoy fantastic views as it sits an impressive 300m above sea level, making it the highest market town in England. Renowned for its beautiful Victorian and Georgian architecture, this quaint town is ideal for taking a leisurely stroll around. Prime examples of this can be found at the Devonshire Dome and the Edwardian Opera House. Whilst you’re here you’ll also want to make sure you stop by the gorgeously landscaped Pavilion Gardens, complete with a family-friendly café and shop to keep everyone entertained.
