Dorset is a county in the south west of England. It is most well-known for its stunning Jurassic Coast, with amazing rock formations that show millions of years of geological history. You may even want to try and find a fossil of your own, with many people enjoying fossil hunting activities.

With 95 miles of Jurassic Coast to explore, you won’t be short of nice places to stop off and enjoy. Durdle Door, an ancient stone arch which you can walk down to when the tide is out, is a tourist favourite. Or perhaps you'd like to visit the layered cliffs at nearby Lulworth Coast.

There are loads of traditional seaside towns to explore that will give you a sense of the heritage of Dorset, and you're sure to love the intimacy of the locations. For example, Seaton is home to lots of independent shops, cafes and pubs, but is also has access to the stunning Jurassic coastline that you can enjoy a leisurely walk along.

Discover the birthplace of Scouting

If you are one of the millions people involved in Scouting worldwide then you should head to Brownsea Island and discover the birthplace of Scouting. Brownsea Island was the first place a Scout Camp was held when the movement was founded over a 100 years ago, and you can get a boat across to the island to see it for yourself.

Brownsea Island is a great location for a picnic, although there are places to get some food while you're there. Once you've picked you're lunchtime spot, simply sit back and enjoy the stunning views and surrounding wildlife. Park rangers are on hand to give you lots of interesting information about the animals in the area, such as the fact that the deer swim across from Swansea!
